The New Year
Andrea Meyer | DEC 31, 2023

Happy New Year! Saying goodbye to another year can be overwhelming. Starting new can be exciting as we prepare to look ahead at what to change for the better. Intentions are great, habits are what's important. Give yourself grace to start, continue and be consistent in your specific areas of change. Be healthy is usually the goal, right? There are so many ways to do that and they are individual. What doesn't change year after year and what is always what I think about is nutrition, movement and mental health. Again those are individual and you need to dive deeper in what works for you and seek help if you need it.
Adjusting your lifestyle comes with age. Can you eat or move the same way you did 10 years ago? Probably not. Maybe you're healthier or exercise more than you use to, which is wonderful. Again, it's all personal and YOU do YOU.
The word I believe I used the most in 2023 was balance. I'm still working on it and will continue until I die. Not only in exercise, because balance is extremely important as we get older, but in life. Every day we think about what we have to do, what we want to do, what we need to do, what we will do, what we say yes or no to, and you get the point. I read someone's post yesterday that said, "If you're still thinking about it, the answer is no." Wow, it's that easy. I was trying to make a decision about something and after I read that, I thought, yep, I don't really want to do that so I'm not. The pressure of that decision was weighing me down. Why do we do that to ourselves? The anxiety and stress has to be addressed. Talk about it, journal it, or ask for help.
Speaking of balancing life and work...Do I have a workout challenge for you starting in January? Sorry, no. I may be the only trainer that is not doing that. I wish I had the time to do that for you, but I have been focused on my daughter's senior year of high school. I am freaking out a little about it. Sad and excited at the same time. But her time right now is what I am focused on. I thought I could combine what I know and help her cheer team at the same time. I will have at least two workouts in January that are donation based and will go directly to her team for the National trip in Orlando in February. The first zoom workout is Sunday, January 7th at 9:30am EST. Most of the workout will be functional related strength movements, squats, lunges, etc. and will have a lot of core focused strength, both standing and on the floor. Please join! All levels are welcome and please share with your friends. The more the merrier! The sound will be muted and you can hide your video if you prefer. You can sign up HERE. The other date(s) will be posted on my social and website next week.
I know this year will be busy and fly by. Go on that vacation. Take that walk. Get enough sleep. Don't be hard on yourself. And I hope everyone can be healthy and happy!
❤️✌️Andrea
